Welcome to the start of your journey into understanding stress and how your stress may be affecting you mentally and physically.
Reducing stress is one of the most important and effective self-care practices you can do to help reduce poor health issues. Chronic stress is one of the major contributors leading to progressive degenerative diseases, heart disease, cancers, gut health issues, sleep problems, headaches, inflammation, arthritis, Alzheimer's, weight gain, hormone imbalances, Type 2 Diabetes, metabolic issues, and more.
Stress is the underlying issue in over 70% of doctor visits! Sadly, much of it is preventable. This is a major lifestyle factor that most people are simply not equipped to deal with effectively. While some stress is good and motivating, excess levels are leading to increases in burnout and detrimental health impacts.
Stress affects everyone differently. Its impacts vary widely, based on your perceived level of stress, past experience, perspectives, and if you have good stress processing and problem-solving skills. Most people have simply learned their stress reactions in childhood from family and peers, and not all of it helpful for today and the types of new stress in society.
Everyone has stress that affects all aspects of life, in your work and personal life. Stress can pile up quickly and affect your relationships, your physical health, and drains your energy. Chronic stress impacts are many and are accumulative.
The first step in reducing stress is to understand how stress is affecting you. Awareness is key!
